Since the opening of the overseas office in the United States, The Korea Foundation Washington D.C. Office and L.A. Office have hosted Year-End Celebration as means of building friendship and fostering its good relationship with institutions and individuals who have been a great support to the foundation. The Year-End celebration takes place in December.
In 2013, the Year-End Celebration in the Washington area was held jointly with the Korea Club at Woo Lae Oak Korean Restaurant. Sydney Seiler, the Director of Korea for the National Security Staff, was the guest speaker. Hyun-dong Cho, the Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea gave a congratulatory remark as an honored guest. The celebration also included a short program by Washington Sorichung, a Korean traditional music performance group.
In Los Angeles, the Year-End Celebration was held at Cordon Bleu, a famous Culinary School where the students prepared Korean dishes to the guests for the first time. For the program, H.E. Kathleen Stephen, the former ambassador to the Republic of Korea, was the guest speaker.
As a time of celebration and a final get-together, The Korea Foundation overseas offices hope to foster an active community of individuals interested in Korea and continue to promote regular discussions of issues related to Korea in its community.
